La La Beads | Review & Giveaway

You may think that I am a bit late, wearing teething necklaces with a nineteen month old. But believe it or not he is only starting to get more teeth. At his age Lily had pretty much a full set but now they are coming in thick and fast and Alexander is suffering.

La La beads...check!

La La Beads is a new venture by mum Alyse who found that when she had her son in 2014 that there were a shortage of teething necklaces which also were fashionable. When babies start to grab whilst they are being held, or nursed, hair (long or short!), earrings, necklaces and glasses are within their grasp and whilst they may think that playing tug of war with a bespoke piece of jewellery is a delightful game, it certainly isn't especially if beads suddenly ricochet into the air. La La Beads offer an stylish solution for mum and child; they have been designed with fashion trends in mind and are versatile enough to wear with most outfits whilst being safe for baby to chew on thanks to the chunky beads being made of 100% Food Grade Silicone which has no BPA, phthalates, cadmium, lead or metals.

A beautifully chunky necklace featuring citron coloured beads strung on waxed cotton

La La Beads aren't designed for children to use without supervision; this is a necklace to be worn by a parent which can offer more than teething relief, it is also a great sensory tool for breastfeeding babies with wandering hands! Alexander is transitioning from on demand feeding to just a breakfast feed now, and occasionally still climbs on to my lap expectantly. He has become distracted by the beads strung on waxed cotton twine, which he is quite happy to twiddle and he has started gnawing on the beads too. This can result in quite a dribbly mess, but at least I know that I can clean the beads with soap and water and occasionally I can wash them in the top rack of the dishwasher. There is an orange breakaway clasp, which hasn't undone yet, despite Alexander's strength as I lean over him to clip him into the pushchair.

Brighten up an outfit with La La beads

What do I think of the beads?
I received the 'Bubble - citron' beads which are described on the website as

"our classic piece to add a touch of glam to the everyday.  Beads are the perfect size for little hands and Citron can brighten up even the darkest day (or outfit)."

And you know what? I absolutely agree. I have received many compliments on the citron necklace and most are surprised to hear that it is actually a teething necklace. It absolutely brightens up outfits; I have especially loved wearing this necklace with a black plain top as it provides such a a contrast and a eye-catching pop of colour. I'd be more than happy to wear this even if I didn't have a teething child! As a side-note, I also think that these beads could be versatile enough to suit those with autism-related chewing desires.

Would you be interested in entering a La La Beads giveaway? You could win a necklace of your choice from the range which can be viewed on the La La Beads website. Good luck!
