The Woman in Cabin 10 | Little Loves

Welcome to my Little Loves - a post rounding up the past week. I didn't get the opportunity to write a post last week which was our half term and we were a good balance of busy bees and lazy slugs!

Read

The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware. I have just started it really, having just bought it from Waterstones. But so far so good.

But was she ever on board at all?"

A post on Mumsnet resonated with me this week. I can't remember what the original post was about but amongst the replies which expressed the annoyance of being asked "if your husband is babysitting the children" was the following reply. It really annoys me!

Watched

I watched the first episode of the second series of Broadchurch. I have never watched the first series and I don't know how to get hold of it. I have visited West Bay a few times so it is nice having familiar scenes. I won't mention any spoilers though!

Heard

I'm really struggling with answering this, oh dear!

Made

I saw a short Facetime video on how to make Nutella-filled pancakes so I had a go this week seeing as we have just had Shrove Tuesday. Pancakes are a fairly regular breakfast meal in our household but filling them with Nutella was a special treat. I didn't freeze discs of Nutella as the video suggested, but blobbed some spread on with a spoon. The photo doesn't do it justice, the chocolate spread melted and oozed out. I'm sensing a theme here, did you see the chocolate pudding in my last Little Loves?

 Wore

It was World Book Day yesterday. Lily had two outfit options; the dinosaur from The Dinosaur that Pooped the Bed, or Alice from Alice in Wonderland. She chose the latter! Complete with her tassled chelsea boots and hair in a plait. Alexander could be anyone in literature wearing his civvys, perhaps he could be Danny from Roald Dahl's Danny the Champion of the World...

I wore this dark lip and Lily didn't recognise me when I picked her up from ballet! The bun managed to stay in for at least half of Thursday's Clubbercise class, before I looked like a royal mess!

And Lastly

Ash Wednesday saw the beginning of Lent and I for one have decided to give up sausages. I suppose it isn't a bad choice, giving up processed meat and we do usually have sausages once a week. Lily, on the other hand has a countdown calendar I created for her which promotes mindfulness as well as encouraging her in different ways, behaviourally or even helping round the house.

Glad to be back to the routine of the usual working week now. Although I did enjoy quieter mornings minus the school run, even more so when Alexander had lie-ins until 10 am!
Next week I am excited to visit my parents and catch up with my sister. I'm hoping that Kent doesn't have as many daffodils in bloom as I am so allergic to them!

Thank you for reading, I hope you have had an enjoyable week :)

  1. Nutella AND pancakes are such a winning combination. I'll have to give that recipe a try for my youngest next time I make a batch.
Love the idea of encouraging mindfulness in the kids over Lent!
    Have a great week x
